El Argos biometer calculates axial length as the sum of the physical distances of four segments: central corneal thickness, aqueous depth, lens thickness, and the thickness of the vitreous humor, each calculated by dividing the optical distance by the corresponding refractive index at an infrared wavelength range, thereby yielding the true physical scale of AL.

The performance of the Argos biometer includes an enhanced retinal visualization, segmented axial length measurement, and enhanced OCT keratometry. The ARGOS (Alcon Laboratories, Inc.), equipped with SS-optical coherence tomography (OCT) (OCTB1), has a high AL acquisition success rate even in dense nuclear sclerosis.

ARGOS swept- source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) biometer is designed, manufactured, and marketed with a body of science developed through rigorous bench research and clinical studies. As the body of knowledge behind Alcon’s products grows, so does the challenge of making our customers aware of its depth.

The ARGOS Biometer with Image Guidance by Alcon is the smarter planning solution that keeps efficiency and accuracy flowing through your clinic.

Alcon ARGOS Biometer Advantages:

  •  provides higher forecasting accuracy
  •  Optical coherence tomography technology has been implemented
  •  visual control system
  • ✓ Biometric data registration time is less than 1 second
  •  Higher scanning speed
  •  Increased efficiency and accuracy of eye parameter measurements
  • ✓ Automatic image capture mode
  •  Built-in analytics module

What does it allow?

  •  Reduces the risk of errors when saving data, since all calculations are transferred automatically from the diagnostic room to the operating room
  •  Accurately takes into account the rotation of the eyeball when the human body position changes from vertical to horizontal
  •  Improves surgical precision by displaying markings on the screen
  •  Monitors every stage of the operation in real time

The Argos SS-OCT Biometer

El ARGOS SS-OCT  is the World’s First  Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Biometer that accurately reads biometric information even for the densest cataracts. It delivers highly accurate, fast measurements of 9 essential parameters for IOL selection: Axial Length, Corneal Thickness, Anterior Chamber Depth, Lens Thickness, Pupil Size, Corneal Diameter, K-values (K1, K2), and Toric Angle.

 The Faster Solution

argos_faster_soultion

• Measurement capture speed <1.0 sec9‡
• 1.5x faster scanning speed than IOLMaster* 7001†

* Trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
† At 3000 A-Lines/sec as compared to 2000 A-Line/sec for IOLMaster* 700
‡ With capture times as low as 0.6 seconds.

The Easier Solution

argos_easier_soultion

• Angle-to-angle, cornea-to-retina OCT imaging provides real-time guidance for capturing accurate measurements
• Integrated Alcon Vision Planner with automated and convenient planning software offers sophisticated astigmatic management tools, including an LRI nomogram
• One-touch software and remote planning options

* Compared to VERION® Reference Unit.

The Better Solution

argos_better_soultion

Advanced SS-OCT technology provided higher acquisition rates than other market-leading biometers1

• Outperformed IOLMaster* 700 by 41% in grade 4+ cataracts1
• OCT-enhanced keratometry shown to rival Lenstar*1
• Uses segmented axial length, improving refractive prediction error, which may lead to better IOL selection

Image Guided Integration from the clinic to the OR is designed to increase precision and enhance data integrity.

The Vision Planner sends the surgical plan to the DMM, eliminating transcription errors and enabling surgeons to execute it with image-guided precision.

At the end of the case, the DMM sends surgical data back to the Vision Planner:

•    Surgery date
•    Procedure type
•    Incision width
•    Final IOL implanted

An image of the final IOL position at the end of the case can be captured and stored for future reference.
